Fátima is a place of adoration. This city is one of the most popular destinations of Portugal, attracting thousands of pilgrims and curious visitors every year. Religious center, the most esteemed of the world, where three shepherd children allegedly witnessed the apparition of Our Lady, May 13, 1917. The story goes that "a lady brighter than the sun" appeared to the three children, warning them of the importance of praying and telling them she would appear again on the same date and time for five consecutive months. Having also promised to reveal her identity and perform a miracle on the day of her last appearance.
In the following months, Our Lady told the children three prophecies. On 13 October, at the time indicated, about 70 000 people gathered to watch the final appearance. As people prayed, Our Lady appeared and performed what became known as the "Miracle of the Sun": the sun began to spin rapidly like a ball of fire and heavy rain which until then had fallen ceased and people's clothes were miraculously dried.
